Director of Marketing and Communications

ECAN’s mission is to save lives by increasing public awareness about the link between reflux disease and cancer, promoting early detection, supporting research to prevent, detect, treat, and cure Esophageal Cancer, and providing patients and families with the latest, most reliable medical information and compassionate support.

ECAN is now seeking to dramatically accelerate its growth and is looking for a mission-focused, experienced, enthusiastic Marketing Director who can help ECAN execute its plan to make its vision a reality. The successful Marketing Director will help establish effective methods to communicate ECAN’s awareness and advocacy messages, elevate the profile of the organization, and expand its base of support while embodying the creative spark that drives ECAN’s success.

Reporting to the CEO, and in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy, the Marketing Director will spearhead impactful communications as ECAN continues to grow, including:

  • Content Creation: Create compelling and engaging content for various
    marketing channels, including the ECAN website, social media, videos,
    podcasts, email campaigns, and print materials.
  • Public Relations: Cultivate relationships with media to support increased
    news coverage.
  • Digital Marketing: Monitor and analyze campaign performance, making
    data-driven adjustments as necessary while managing digital campaigns,
    including SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media advertising.
  • Design + Visual Identity Management: Ensure brand consistency and
    integrity across all communication channels.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Track and report on key marketing metrics to
    assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Budget Management: Manage marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effective
    strategies and optimal allocation of resources.

The Ideal ECAN Marketing Director

You are creative, design-savvy, and have your finger on the pulse of the latest trends. When managing and fulfilling plans, you are thorough, detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven. Though you thrive on collaboration, you can easily knock out projects on your own with little oversight. You are a problem solver who loves tackling any puzzle you are given. Curiosity is your fuel, so you dig in to figure it out. More than anything, you are mission-driven, and you bring your passion to work every day.

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven track record of designing and creating collateral for successful marketing campaigns including media relations, public relations, publications, e-communications, social media, and website development.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clear, thoughtful written and oral communications and basic graphic design. Video editing experience a plus.
  • Capacity to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, thriving under pressure, meeting tight deadlines with uncompromising attention to detail.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, WordPress, CRM systems, Google Grants, and Meta Business Suite.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics and reporting tools.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, able to work cooperatively with individuals of varying personalities.
  • Occasional out-of-town, overnight travel is required.
  • Undergraduate degree in marketing or communications fields.
  • Minimum 3-5 years marketing, public relations or other communications experience. Non-profit marketing or communications experience is preferred.

ECAN is prepared to offer an attractive compensation package, including a competitive base salary as well as health, retirement, and vacation benefits along with the potential for a year-end bonus.

Salary range: $75,000 – $85,000 commensurate with experience.
