The Esophageal Cancer Action Network (ECAN) announced today that our President and CEO,
Mindy Mintz Mordecai will retire in late 2025 after nearly 17 years of leadership at ECAN. Board Chair Dr. John Lipham indicated that a search would begin immediately to enable a smooth transition of leadership.
“I have had the extraordinary honor of leading this organization for more than 16 years,” said Mordecai. “ECAN has brought about meaningful progress for patients, accomplishing much more than we thought possible when we began. That’s thanks to our great ECAN family. And while I am personally ready for this transition, I also know that the organization is in an ideal position to make a significant difference as it reinvigorates its quest to end Esophageal Cancer.”
Mordecai plans to remain involved with ECAN, pursuing its important mission. She also looks forward to time for travel, leisure, and more quality time with those she loves.
“Mindy has been a tremendous asset to ECAN as an organization and to progress in the field of esophageal cancer,” said Dr. Lipham. “Her leadership and unabashed commitment have driven our work and ensured the success of our many initiatives. We are committed to finding a successor who will continue to build on Mindy’s amazing legacy and lead the ECAN into its next chapter.”
