DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING! Join ECAN on Capitol Hill in June as we advocate to end Esophageal Cancer with our elected officials during ECAN’s first in-person Hill Day. The registration deadline to join ECAN’s Hill Day is Friday, May 24th. Sign up here.
Dozens of ECAN advocates will meet in Washington, D.C. for training on Monday, June 24th to learn the most effective methods for sharing their stories and concerns with their elected officials. That evening, they will learn more about the research that has been funded into the prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and survival of Esophageal Cancer through the Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program. More than $15 million in new Esophageal Cancer research has been added to the federal budget as a result of the efforts of ECAN advocates in the past three years alone.
ECAN’s team will schedule meetings for advocates to meet with lawmakers from their communities on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 so that they share their personal stories and help elected officials understand the need for more funding, attention, and priority for patients at risk for Esophageal Cancer. ECAN’s Hill Day provides a rare opportunity for those affected by this deadly cancer to make their voices heard in a way that makes an important difference.
